Traditional Baci Ceremony: US$ 140.00 Baci Ceremony
A Baci is a Lao ancestral ceremony that celebrates special events such as a wedding, a welcoming, a homecoming, a birth or the annual festivals.
Treat yourself and those close to you to a Welcoming ceremony that is a “must do” in Laos, as it has been a tradition for centuries. For special occasions, we can organize for you to see a "Baci" ceremony. This is the oldest and most traditional Lao ceremony, which gives blessings for health, prosperity or for special wishes.It is hosted by our senior village Shaman. Special food and drink, prepared by the family of the Shaman, is provided after the ceremony.
It is an emphasis on the value of life, of social and family bonds, of forgiveness, renewal and homage to heavenly beings. This is the most popular of Lao traditional ceremonies and involves the ritual that is the tying of holy cotton threads to give the blessings of the spirits to specific persons, activities or places. It is believed to restore the natural order of things and bring communities closer together.
